As a pre-cursor to the Waratah bowl this year the Northwestern Predators will be playing a 7 a side exhibition match against the Central Coast Sharks. The Central Coast Gridiron Association is an associate member of Gridiron NSW and was formed in 2006 to develop and foster interest in American football in the outlying area of Sydney and the Central Coast and this will be their first foray into full contact football since their inception. We hope everyone can come out to the game to help support our developing association.

Game 2- Duty Outlaws League Lions

Pennant Hills

Game 2- Duty Raiders League Seahawks

I’d also like to thank the Pirates and the Predators for all there assistance in trying to make sure that this week games go ahead without a hitch

Luke Robinson update http://gridironnsw.org.au/2008/10/17/luke-robinson-update/ http://gridironnsw.org.au/2008/10/17/luke-robinson-update/#comments Fri, 17 Oct 2008 09:08:22 +0000 Jason Gaffey http://gridironnsw.org.au/?p=195 The US Prep School football season has reached its midway point at all schools that include members of the USA Football International Student Program on their rosters.  Student-athletes from Australia, Denmark, Germany and Mexico are making a positive impression on the football fields of Connecticut, Illinois, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body on youth and amateur levels, enables 12 student-athletes from three continents to live their dream of playing ‘American’ football and studying at U.S. prep schools through the ISP.  The students applied online at usafootball.com and having proved themselves suitable candidates, became eligible for financial aid from both USA Football and the host schools that they selected.

Kimball Union Academy won its fourth straight game with a dominating 44-14 road victory over New Hampton School in New Hampshire.  KUA received help from ISP athlete Luke Robinson (Sydney) in the team’s latest win on the road to defending the NEPSAC (New England Prep Schools Athletic Conference) title the Wildcats won last year.  First year member Robinson produced strong performance as he started on the offensive line.

Robinson is the first Australian athlete to join the USA Football International Student Program, which in its three years of existence has featured athletes from six countries: Australia, China, Denmark, Germany, Ireland and Mexico.  He started for the first time for the Wildcats, lining up at offensive guard in the win over New Hampton.

“It is much tougher than it is in Australia and it is a much different game,” said Robinson of his first season playing football in the United States.  “I have noticed a change in my game.  It has definitely improved since three years ago when I first started playing and it just keeps going.”

Upcoming Games at Kimball Union Academy:

Saturday, October 18
Home to Portsmouth Abbey School, 3:30

Saturday, October 25
At Hyde School (CT), 4pm

Saturday, November 1
At Procter Academy, 3pm

USA Football International Student Program 2008-09 Player Stats
