• · This Competition is open to  players  turning 12, 13 and 14 during 2012.  (If turning 15, you must register with a Colts Team)
• · Teams are 5 players per side – there is no limit to how many teams can enter the competition
• · All games are played on Friday Nights
• · Games will be played at Tempe, Eastern Suburbs, St George District and  Sutherland Shire
• · All players will wear the mandatory equipment (just like they do in the NFL and College)

Coaching

Parents are encouraged to becoming involved in this program. Entry Level Coaching  Courses are available at the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) website.  At this level it is recommended that coaches & parents complete the Coaching Certification for  Under 14’s  and Under 12’s .  IFAF Membership is $25USD.   The coaching courses are $10USD each. http://www.ifaf.org/pages/coach_resources

The playing surface is using the lastest technology in artificial grass fields, recently opened and is located at the Endeavour Sports High School, Caringbah. The sports company that manages the facility is called 5Sports, check out the website www.5sports.com.au

This is the first multi sports facility of its kind built in Sydney and Gridiron NSW is very excited to be given the opportunity to showcase the sport at the venue.

The international webcast – which is available only outside of North America – will broadcast all the action live from The Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Austin, Texas.

Fans in the United States and Canada can tune in to CBS Sports Network’s live television coverage of the International Bowl and can access the broadcaster’s Channel Finder at www.cbssportsnetwork.com.

The game kicks off at 5pm local Central time, which will be midnight in Central Europe, 8am the following morning in Tokyo, Japan and 10am the next day in Sydney, Australia.  The webcast will be archived and will be available for post-event viewing in all territories outside North America.  In the United States and Canada fans can view the game 72 hours later on the USA Football website. “We are delighted that American football fans around the world will be able to watch our best junior talent aged 19 and under take on America’s finest,” said IFAF President TOMMY WIKING.  “The game has players and coaches representing 20 countries whose participation will create great interest in their homeland and inspire other young players to compete at this level. “Regardless of whether or not their country has players on the IFAF World Team roster, people who are passionate about American football in the more than 60 countries IFAF represents should all be excited to tune in to watch the webcast.”

The IFAF World Team is selected from athletes nominated by their respective federations who form a 50-man roster from American Samoa, Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain and Sweden.

In 2011 the IFAF World Team narrowly lost 21-14 to Team USA at Westlake High School in Austin, and in 2010, the Americans were held scoreless until the final play of the first half before going on to win 17-0 at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

The IBN Sports-powered webcast will show the CBS Sports Network production and will stream exclusively through www.USAFootball.com/InternationalBowl.  Calling all the action will be CBS Sports Network play-by-play announcer James Bates, who will be joined in the booth at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex by analyst Doug Chapman and Brian Jones reporting from the sidelines. The game will be available to military services around the world on the American Forces Network (AFN).

The State Division 1 season is over and to me the most important thing now is that we all take a break after a long season. Get back into your lifting, let any niggling injuries heal and clear your heads. Re-charge the batteries. The next officially scheduled event is trials in late January. Then it’s the naming of the train-on squad, testing and pre-season training.

Also, we’ve created a Facebook group for those directly involved in Wolfpack. It’s an information site, not a fan site. To join you need to search for it under ‘NSW WOLFPACK VII’. Use those roman numerals! Then tell any other candidates you know that haven’t joined. If you aren’t on Facebook, then email me and we’ll add you to our email list.

• A CANDIDATES are those that the coaching staff feel are capable of playing in the National Tournament.

• B CANDIDATES are those that have the potential to play, but the staff needs to see more in scheme specific trials.

There are no guarantees with your appearance in either group. Each player who has been named and wants to make the squad is expected to compete for a place.

All Candidates are asked to indicate whether they are interested / available in Wolfpack so their names can be included in the planning process. You can do this by joining the NSW WOLFPACK VII Facebook group – which is the easiest way to keep up to date with information. Alternatively you can send the coaching staff an email. If you are not interested or unavailable then by all means send an email to let us know.

The next official step is to run the trials, which will take place in late January. Then the train-on squad will be announced, testing will take place and training will begin. After a number of sessions the final squad will be named.
