VENUE: JJ CAHILL MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL Sutherland and Coward St Mascot
REQUIREMENTS: Players must be fully equiped (Helmet, shoulder pads, lowers) and in team uniform for identification.
COST: $10-$20 depending upon numbers attending
PURPOSE: To identify and develop players for the Junior Outback Gridiron National Team

2010 First Aid Course

Anne Maree Trudgett will be offering a first aid course at Sparkles Gym (Ste 139/ 26-32 Pirrama Rd, Pyrmont NSW 2009) on 12 June 2010. The cost of this course is $90 per person, and those interested would be required to do some prior reading. The costs are quite reasonable, and certainly much cheaper than first aid courses run by St Johns.

I also take this opportunity to remind you that each team must have at least two (preferably non-playing) first aid qualified persons. If you’re interested in undertaking this first aid course, then you must contact Anne Maree directly to confirm your attendance either by email amtrudgett@yahoo.com.au or by phone: 0415 419 099. Those who simply turn up on the day will not be eligible to take this course.
Further details of this course will also be posted on the League website in due course.

The Gridiron NSW Executive would like to invite anyone interested in coaching the NSW Wolverines for the 2011 Junior Nationals tournament to apply in writing with their coaching resume to the GNSW President at president@gridironnsw.org.au

The 2011 GA Junior Nationals will be held for the first time in NSW between Saturday 16th April 2011 and Sunday 24th April 2011.

Off-season Strength and Conditioning Training

Jason Gaffey: “Gridiron NSW fully endorses and supports this Initiative and thanks Peter Upham and Shire Speed and Strength for its initiative and also it support of the 5 time National Champion GNSW Wolfpack”

I am going ahead with two initiatives in regards to the Strength and Conditioning for our game.

The first event is a Symposium on Strength and Conditioning for Gridiron. I have invited some people to speak at this open forum and it will focus on things like Periodization for the Club football player, Bio-energetics for Gridiron, Programming and Exercise selection, Modern concepts in S & C for Gridiron and Organizing Team training.

This would be very useful for both Players and Coaches. It will be a free event and held at my gym. Attendees will come away with an insightful idea of what happens in high school, college and professional ranks and where the club football player can fit in and orientate their S & C.

The second event is a Barbell Mechanics Course. This course is to teach the bio-mechanics of 5 basic barbell movements. I am keeping numbers limited and once it fills up I will open up a second and third date as needs require.

This course provides the movement software for our players to be able to adapt and reference programming from various sources. Once an athlete has the movement software, building the football hardware becomes much easier.

Please distribute this email amongst your clubs as you see fit as many players would learn a tremendous amount from this course.

As an update to my previous information. Due to the NSW members of the National Team train on squad getting together for the weekend of May 22/23 I am moving the Symposium for Strength and Conditioning for Gridiron to Saturday May 29th from 3pm to 5.30pm. All other details for the event stay the same.

I am also opening up a second date for the Barbell Mechanics Course. That will be on Sunday June 6th those interested should contact me as per the first course date to secure a place.

Lastly, there has been some inquiry about Combine Testing Skills. So…

Cost: $15 or $10 for those attending the Barbell Course.
